Dreams CAN come true...

Well, I did see The Hitchhikcer's Guide to the Galaxy this weekend. Twice in fact.

It was very entertaining. No, more than entertaining. It was hilarious. I think that if Douglas Adams had not had a hand in writing the screenplay, it woud have been trash. However, since he was integral in its formation, it kept his dry wit and (very Brittish) humor.

The only disappointing part was the cliche sequel set up. Other than that I was most pleased.

Sam Rockwell as Zaphod was classic, and Bill Nighy gave an astounding rendition of Slartibartfast.

I am truly amazed at how much you know about movies. Esp movies that include monkeys.

I recently handed Hitchhiker's to a truely literary African Prof. Hated it. Couldn't see how this was considered literature. I can't wait to have the entire English Dept. over to watch it on DVD. Nothing more fun telling a bunch of locals and Indians that "you'll love this" and seeing their reaction when they don't.

Its called "Monkey Shines" (1988) directed by G.A. Romero.
